Half a year has already passed – and boy, has it been a ride!
Half a year.
I write this post with half joy and half emotion. We reached the first 6 months and so far, what a wonderful adventure it has been.
Just like everybody says, parenthood is an adjustment. Leo is the most wonderful addition to our lives and for the first 6 months, we’ve been going through major changes. No, parenting is not always perfect. No, we are not expected to be perfect (although sometimes, it feels like that sort of expectation is bestowed upon us).
Not only has Leo learned so much at 6 months, but so has mommy and daddy. Together, Joe and I have been changing and re-changing routines. We’ve argued, laughed, rejoiced in memorable milestones, cried, and argued some more.
At the end of it all, we are family. Half a year – that’s nothing compared to a lifetime of togetherness.
At 6 months, Leo has:
Taken his first bite of solid food: bananas!
Taken an interest to textures. He scratches anything and everything in sight!
Sits independently on his high chair.
Can sit upright on his stroller.
Reacts to playing and listens attentively when being spoken to.
Is going to bed an hour earlier (Hallelujah! For awhile, our baby was going on 13 with 11pm bedtimes)
Lucky enough, timing was on our side. Leo’s 6-month celebration was close enough to daddy’s birthday. We took advantage of the weekend by visiting Fairmont Mont-Tremblant (as you can see, Leo is seated in his ultra-comfy hotel-room chair). We celebrated with a vanilla cake that we purchased in Tremblant’s Village.
