Chocolate Panettone French Toast

Turning the classic Panettone into a breakfast staple

This holiday season, I’m taking panettone on a whole other level.

My family has always been big on breakfast. It’s probably why I’m so keen on ordering intense platters whenever I eat out for Sunday brunch. I’m always in need of a savory and salty combination. My friends are continually impressed with what I could gobble up in the morning.

You can only imagine how big our feasts are on Christmas morning. To this day, holiday breakfasts consists of delicious food-items like oven-baked ham (infused with maple syrup), an array of cheese, and a couple varieties of panettone.

Our family is accustomed to eating panettone right after opening presents. We enjoy it with our morning coffee and even pick at it throughout the day. Growing up, these things would go fast. If you looked away even for a split second, you’d miss any chance of having your own slice.

These classic Italian Christmas cakes are a staple in many households. This year, I came across one that was purely chocolate-flavored. You can only imagine how the alarms on my sweet tooth went off. It inspired me to elevate my family’s panettone experience.
