Today, we’re embracing winter by making this season-appropriate dessert.
I can’t really say that I enjoy winter. I mean, who likes trekking through piles of snow, shoveling cars out of the driveway, and facing high gusts of wind? Okay, perhaps it’s where I reside, but this season is not an easy one to endure.
Of course, I like to see the positive in everything. I figured that a winter-themed dessert could make my next dinner party a lot more cheerful. I wanted to be able to offer something sweet despite any snow storms coming our way.
Cake pops are fun treats to munch on. After developing my own go-to cake pop recipe, I’ve made a few batches for several occasions. Not too long ago, I happened to find these adorable snowflake sprinkles from Bulk Barn. Naturally, I was completely inspired.
Cake Pops: Winter Wonderland Edition
Process
1 box of cake mix
1 cup vanilla frosting (I purchased a ready-made mix from the grocery store)
Lollipop sticks
2 cups white candy melts
2 tsp coconut oil
Winter-inspired sprinkles
Directions
Prepare cake according to box’s directions. Once complete, allow cake to cool completely.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. When the cake has cooled, crumble it into a medium-sized bowl. Add frosting to your cake crumbs and fold. Combine until cake is well-coated with frosting.
Roll cake into 1 – 1.5 inch balls. Set on lined baking sheet and insert lollipop stick on top. Let chill for about 15-20 minutes.
Remove cake balls from refrigerator. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt candy and coconut oil in 30-second intervals.
One at a time, dip your un-coated cake pop into candy melt mixture. Carefully place on lined baking sheet. Decorate with sprinkles.
Let set in the refrigerator for a minimum of 20 minutes and enjoy!
