Calling all Montrealers: Marché des Éclusiers is a new market in town and it’s definitely something to check out.
The Old Port has always been one of my favorite places to visit. Whether it’s on a date with Joe or if I’m taking out-of-town family on a walking tour, the scenery is just so beautiful and it’s incredibly rich in history. Now, Old Montreal has just stepped up its game with a brand-spankin’ new farmer’s market: Marché des Éclusiers. We were lucky enough to check it out last weekend and I must say, I’m already itching to go back.
Let’s talk about atmosphere and ambiance: when we made our way into the market, we had bursts of smoke coming at us, emitting delicious smells of barbecued meat. We hadn’t realized that we were right in front of Diablo’s, one of Montreal’s best smokehouses. Already, it was clear that we were off to a good start.
Walking around, we passed by booths selling tremendous amounts of bread, fruits and vegetables, and the sweetest flowers and greenery. I literally wanted to buy everything and my husband was getting more and more nervous as we made our way through the entire place. He’s fully aware of my shopping capabilities and everything in the market is what I love keeping in our home (organic food, potted plants, etc.). At the end of it all, I managed to control myself (and my wallet) but I am still so delighted to finally discover a place that carries a little bit of everything that I love.
I’m not going to lie, whenever I explore other bloggers’ websites (like my favorites Emily Schuman and Joy Cho), talking about their regular visits to the local farmer’s markets, dressed so fabulously and picking up fresh produce, I always tell myself: “Lisa, you should go to the market more often.” Marché des Éclusiers is definitely my vibe and I am totally in support of what they have to offer. I love how they make high-quality products accessible to a new neighborhood (Old Montreal has never seen a market like this before).
Marché des Éclusiers will be celebrating their grand opening on May 26, 2016. So whether you’re a local Montrealer or planning a vacation to our beautiful city, Marché des Éclusiers is definitely something you’ll want to check out.
